i have vertical dropouts, if thats what you mean by standard. I was able to get the proper tension on my chain by putting a half link on the chain. having one more link on there to have the chain connect would make the chain to loose cuz its a little too long. without that link the chain comes up too short. so a half link is perfect for it.
